Inventory of destroyed properties: Owners are invited to contact the tax department to avoid taxation in 2018

0

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin invites landowners whose habitat has been destroyed or made unusable by Hurricane Irma to make themselves known to the Center of Public Finances of Saint-Martin (ex tax service), to inform them of the condition of their property on January 1 (house, apartment, business premises).

The advantage of this approach for land owners is to avoid imposition of the property tax for the year 2018. The roll being closed at the beginning of May 2018, these people are invited to come forward as soon as possible in order to avoid a unnecessary litigation.

Once their process has been carried out with the tax authorities, users will not receive any tax notice until the new property is completed on January 1 of the tax year.

Specific forms have been created by the tax administration in order to help the taxpayers concerned (the property must be destroyed or rendered unusable). These forms are available on the Collectivité's website: www.com-saint-martin.fr. Once completed and complete with all the relevant documents (photos, expert reports, etc.), they must be submitted to the Saint-Martin Public Finance Center. The decision will be taken after the opinion of the territorial commission of property taxes, composed of elected representatives of the territorial council of the community of Saint-Martin.

The Saint-Martin Public Finance Center is located 16 rue Jacques Fayel - BP 1084 at Concordia Marigot 97061Saint-Martin Cedex, and can be contacted on 05 90 87 94 51 or 05 90 87 94 52 or 05 90 87 94 49. Forms "Paper" are also available from this service.
