The Northern Islands still on Orange alert for dangerous seas!

0

A long swell from North-North-West always breaks on our coasts. This energetic swell is formed with estimated periods of the order of 13 seconds. It is the power of this swell, more than the height of its hollows that characterizes its danger.

This Long swell from North-North-West turns very slowly North still very energetic (period 13 seconds). The troughs are around 3m50 to 4m over the north of Anguilla. The heights when approaching our coasts are less. But the greatest caution is recommended on our coasts exposed in particular to the North and the West, in the bay of Gustavia also, because of the rollers and very strong surges. The sea invades in places the low areas of the coast. The moorings of the boats remain very stressed and risk slipping.

Also note the presence of a north turning wind between 20 and 30 km / h which can also contribute to the unusual agitation.

Today, the swell from the North is estimated with hollows of 3m50.

A clear improvement in conditions is not expected before Thursday.

Caution is advised

Given the orange warning "dangerous sea at the coast", the Collectivity invites in particular the inhabitants exposed on the coast, from Terres-Basses to Grand Case, to be vigilant and to take the necessary measures in the event of a rise in waters: secure your belongings, take refuge upstairs or in a place far from the shore.

In case of need, the Collectivity provides you with a shelter, it is the school restaurant of the Jérôme Beaupère school in Sandy-Ground. _AF
