A man appeared Thursday morning before the local court of Saint-Martin for acts of theft, attempted theft and illicit use of narcotics committed between October 2, 2021 to May 27, 2022 in Saint-Martin. Incarcerated at the Basse-Terre remand center for other acts, AG was tried by videoconference.
He is accused of repeated thefts from the trailer. The term “trailer theft” refers to traffic offenses resulting in the theft of one or more objects, accessories and personal effects found inside a parked vehicle. The judge listed 19 charges against him. He was identified by the investigators thanks to his DNA found in one of the vehicles. He admitted almost all of the charges.
The prosecutor indicated that these acts of theft have been blamed on AG since 2014. "He does not change", she notes, adding that "he organizes his life on the backs of others, in order to meet his needs by stealing others”. She requested four months' imprisonment, no longer eligible for the suspended sentence and to retain guilt for the use of narcotics.
After deliberation, the court found AG guilty of the charges against him and sentenced him to four months' imprisonment, as well as to compensate his victims by paying a total sum of 500 euros. (soualigapost.com)
