Accidental poisonings of children are on the rise. They mainly take place at home, in a family setting. Very young children are the main victims.

The main symptoms found are drowsiness with phases of restlessness, vomiting, dilation of the pupils, weak muscle tone (hypotonia), and rapid and irregular heartbeat (tachycardia).

Acute poisoning can lead to coma, respiratory failure, and seizures. Last year 6 children finished in the emergency room.
