Under the authority of President Daniel Gibbs and the 3rd Vice-President in charge of Education, Mrs. Annick Pétrus, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin has made every effort to meet the expectations of the students of Saint-Martin. In agreement with the Rector of Academy Camille Galap and his services, the new school year took place on Monday October 2.

Four schools had been selected for this first step towards a return to class. Clair Saint-Maximin and Omer Arrondell middle school and elementary schools in Orléans, as well as the Cité Scolaire.

These establishments responded to the safety and hygiene measures necessary for the reception of pupils and national education personnel. At Clair St Maximin elementary school, the director presented to the children the program of activities planned as part of the educational project developed for Saint Martin by the education services, namely welcoming pupils from CE2, CM1 and CM2 in the morning from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and CP and CE1 students from 11 a.m. to 13:30 p.m.

In class, it was above all a question of promoting speaking first so that the children could express themselves on the passage of Hurricane Irma. Then ten workshops will be offered to students (reading, computers, educational games, science, etc.), until the All Saints holidays.

At the Collège d'Orléans, the 4th and 3rd classes were received from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the 6th and 5th classes from 13:30 p.m. to 16 p.m.

At the Cité Scolaire, secondary school pupils from the 6th, 5th and 4th years, as well as the pupils from Seconde were expected from 13:30 p.m. to 16 p.m. The high school students, from 1st year of high school and from BTS having made their return from 8 hours to 11:30.

The Rectorate plans to open more establishments next week
