Reinforcing earthquake-resistant social housing in the French part is one of the priorities defined by the Collectivity and the prefecture within the framework of the second phase of the Antilles earthquake plan 2016-2020.

Semsamar said that "its housing in Saint-Martin was sufficiently recent - most of it built after 1998 and did not require earthquake-proof reinforcement". For its part, the Guadeloupe Real Estate Company (SIG) has indicated that it must rehabilitate 70 dwellings in the Quartier d'Orléans subdivision, 58 dwellings in the Beverly subdivision and 30 dwellings in the Marie Claude subdivision. SIG estimated the works respectively at 2,76 million euros, 377 euros and 000 euros.

SIKOA (SA HLM de Guadeloupe) considers that three of its residences with high vulnerability, would require earthquake-proof reinforcement, namely 62 dwellings in the Hibiscus Spring residence, 40 dwellings in the Spring residence and 30 other dwellings in the Hôtel de City. It estimated the costs at € 972, € 000 and € 737. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
