PHILANTHROPISM: Second edition of the "Bowl of soup" operation by the Secours Catholique de Saint Martin

0

This Saturday, July 23, a marauding was organized by the non-profit organization which traveled to different neighborhoods to distribute around fifty bowls of soup to people in difficulty. This beautiful action is also an opportunity to recall the existence of Secours Catholique de Saint Martin for the population in need.

When you pass the door of the Secours Catholique which is opposite the Concordia pharmacy, to the right of the Fantastic Hotel, there is a friendly atmosphere with a strong feeling of solidarity. The whole team is busy preparing the bowls of soup that will be distributed in the neighborhoods of Saint-James, Agrément, Concordia, Marigot and Sandy Ground from 17 p.m. to 21 p.m. The purpose of this second marauding was to identify and help people in difficulty, whether they were on the street or in need. "Secours Catholique works like a big family, we are going this evening to people in need to make our association known while distributing soup. C” confides Marie-Annelle Jeannot, co-responsible for Secours Catholique with Liliane Romney. In 2017, the emergency branch of Secours Catholique arrived in the territory of Saint Martin after the passage of Hurricane Irma. After their reconstruction work (eg educational farm, renovation of 34 houses), a branch was created on the territory and has been active since 2019. A dozen volunteers including Maria, Esperanza, Andrith, Lucile, Jocelyne and Alain, now constitute the team that welcomes, helps and listens. If the association is a church service, Secours Catholique welcomes everyone, regardless of their religion. Whether it is an administrative problem or loss of employment, Secours Catholique helps to unblock the situation, putting the person concerned in contact with the competent services. Even if since its creation, the organization had organized great actions such as the Christmas tree, the discovery of medicinal plants with children, 10 million stars or even the national collection, the covid crisis has been a huge brake afterwards. Returning in force on July 23, the association is back in service by returning to the neighborhoods to let the population know.statement that the Catholic Service is always active and attentive.

The association's offices are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (closed in August). As Christophe Lecointe, secretary of Secours Catholique de Saint Martin, who is delighted with the reception of the population during this marauding, expresses it so well: “Despite the world in which we live, we must show solidarity with each other. » _VX
