Firecrackers, fireworks ... what is authorized or prohibited by law

0

On the occasion of the transition to the new year, many fireworks are fired by individuals. These festive articles are dangerous both for the users and for those around them or for their environment, because they contain pyrotechnic substances, often explosive and at least likely to cause injuries and burns, even to cause fires. So beware ...

In normal times, products of the first category (F1 or C1) are prohibited for children under 12 years of age. Those in categories F2 and F3 (or C2 and C3) are prohibited for consumers under 18 years of age. As for objects of category F4 (or C4), they are reserved for professionals and therefore prohibited for individuals. The classification is specified on the packaging.

The first category, F1, concerns items that present a very low risk and a negligible noise level. They can be used inside a building. Products in the second category, F2, are of “low” risk and noise level. They are intended for indoor or outdoor use. Category F3 concerns fireworks with a “medium risk” and must absolutely be used in large open spaces, just like those in F4 which are of a “high risk”. Their noise level is not, however, dangerous for health. _AF

Tips (Firecrackers, fireworks ...)

Avoid buying products whose instructions for use are not written in French

· Read very carefully the information on the instructions for use and the precautions for use

· Imperatively observe these precautions for use

· Warn children of the dangers of firecrackers, (each year, fingers are torn off during games which consist in keeping as long as possible a lit firecracker in the hand)

· Beware of weather conditions (many fires are caused by a strong wind which causes debris of flaming fireworks in dry grass).
