Hurricane "Matthew": The Haitian coast hit hard!

0

Hurrying up to 230 km / h, Hurricane Matthew hit the Haitian coast near the English municipality early yesterday morning, according to the American Hurricane Center (NHC).

Hurricane Category 4, which has already spilled 300 to 600 millimeters of rain, has killed three people, including two at sea. One man died in the sinking of his canoe. "The hurricane is moving north at around 15km / h and this general movement should continue today" (note: yesterday), explains the NHC in a press release. "Following this route, Matthew's eye should return to the waters of the Gulf of Gonave," the press release continued. Thousands of people were evacuated before Matthew passed, which hit the poorest country in the Caribbean. Residents lack the resources to protect themselves from such natural phenomena and their homes are often precarious. A woman also died, unable to leave her home due to the flooding caused by Matthew. Matthew is now heading for southeast Cuba and is expected to hit the Bahamas, where a hurricane warning has been issued in the northwest of the island.
