Sunsail and the French Sailing Federation have just announced the first winner of the "Si demain mon club" contest. This competition, open to all clubs affiliated with the FFVoile, dedicates "Wind Adventures", a structure established in Saint Martin for more than 20 years.

The jury, chaired by Olympic champion Charline Picon, was sensitive to the needs of this club hit hard by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. It also retained the social vocation of the project. Emmanuel Demarez, club secretary is delighted: “This is very good news because we are a very small structure. This competition will allow us to welcome schoolchildren from disadvantaged neighborhoods. These are initiation to sailing and environmental awareness. This is important because some have never left the island. They are always super motivated by this kind of initiative. Wind Adventures offers a catamaran activity and is the Julien Quentel windsurfing club, ranked N ° 5 on the world slalom circuit.

Sunsail, member of the French Sailing Federation's partner club since 2011, set up this competition to "help clubs be more attractive and offer better services" explains Emmanuel Allot, marketing director. The rental company wishes to strengthen ties with the federation and its clubs which constitute the hard core of the practice in France. “Our role as a rental company is to support all practices. It is often the clubs and their volunteers who allow the world to discover all that the sea has to offer. With this competition, we want to thank and encourage them, ”he adds. Charline Picon, President of the jury said she was very happy to participate in this jury: “Clubs are the essential link in the practice of sailing. I was very happy to chair this competition set up by Sunsail and the FFVoile because it is in the clubs that everything begins. "

This first edition of the competition was very successful with 13 files  selected this year and presented by clubs from all over France and working on all types of water bodies. The “If tomorrow my club” competition will be renewed next year.

They said :

• Emmanuel Demanez:

“This is very good news because we are a very small structure. The club has existed for 20 years and we train young people from 8 to 13 years old on Hobie Cat. This competition will allow us to welcome schoolchildren from disadvantaged neighborhoods. These are initiation to sailing and environmental awareness. This is important because some have never left the island. They are always super motivated by this kind of initiative. "

• Charline Picon (President):

“Clubs are the essential link in the practice of sailing. I was very happy to chair this competition set up by Sunsail and the FFVoile because it is in the clubs that everything begins.

I am delighted for the Windsurf Adventures club because it was very affected by Hurricane Irma and there is a lot to do. In addition, it offers activities to young people who have failed school. It is a project that speaks to me, and touches me even if the choice was difficult with a lot of interesting answers. "

• Sunsail and the FFVoile

It was in 2011 that Sunsail started supporting FFVoile. Approaching the Olympic Games  from London, the rental company wanted to bring its customers closer to the Olympic riders and any boat tenant had the opportunity to support the French Team. This support at the highest level made it possible to collect, over the two Olympiads, the sum of 16 euros. Sunsail has also created special links with certain Olympic runners. The champion Charline Picon and the medalist Pierre Le Coq drank the benefit of a catamaran to discover other pleasures of the sea. Charline discovered the Seychelles and, more recently, the British Virgin Islands while Pierre Le Coq flew to Antigua.

The prize-giving  will take place at Wind Adventures Club in St Martin (East Bay), April 13 at 11:30 a.m., in the presence representatives from Sunsail.
