OMNISPORTS: 138 young athletes to the selection test to join the Center of Excellence and Education

They were waiting for this moment with great impatience. And for good reason ! Last Saturday took place at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium the very first selection to join the Center of Excellence and Education through Sport (CEES) next school year. One hundred and thirty-eight children divided into three disciplines: football, athletics and basketball gave their best to win their famous sesame!

The selections kicked off in the presence of the CEES president, Marc-Gérald Ménard, the director, Charles-Henri Palvair, and the general secretary, Audrey Gil.

On the football side, eighty-four girls and boys took the various tests. The selection process included ball driving, speed, moving and stationary juggling and finally, a five-a-side soccer mini-game.

Let's now move on to athletics where nine young people were evaluated in several areas specific to athletics, namely strength, balance, long jump, power and endurance.

Finally, basketball under the aegis of the Northern Islands committee brought together young talents from Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.

In total, thirty-five basketball players successfully passed the various tests: dribbling, passing and shooting.

Whether for football, athletics and basketball, young athletes in the making were supervised by qualified educators.

At the end of this first day of detection, a preselection was carried out by the technical managers. The latter now have until May 8 to define a list of forty-eight young people who will join the Center of Excellence and Education through Sport.

Patience, patience, the final list should be unveiled on Tuesday, May 9! _AF
