New work of the EEASM: road traffic disruptions are to be expected in the Savane and Grand-Case / Hope Estate sectors

The Water and Sanitation Establishment of Saint-Martin (EEASM) began on Monday, February 22, two operations for the benefit of sanitation and drinking water supply to meet in particular the needs imposed by the projects. development of the territory (Construction of the College 600 in La Savane for example).

Resizing of certain sections of the wastewater network and securing the drinking water supply.

The sectors of Savane and Grand-Case / Hope Estate are experiencing fairly strong infrastructural development and it is up to EEASM to ensure that this development and that to come is not constrained by wastewater treatment issues. In this sense, the main wastewater pipes between the Savannah and the Quartier d'Orléans wastewater treatment plant will be resized, a proactive measure that opens the door to future developments.

The past has not always been able to create sufficient space for environmental constraints and risks. This awareness is present today and EEASM is committed to a responsible environmental approach which translates concretely into consideration integrated throughout the work and operations carried out by establishment. In this sense, the pipeline that currently crosses the Saline d'Orient will be removed and a new pipeline will be laid on the periphery of this sensitive area to avoid any risk of pollution.

Finally, Orient Bay is an important distribution point and the public supply network will be improved through a network that will secure the water supply to Orient Bay (see map).

The works will cause road traffic disruptions. Alternate traffic is in place until the end of February to access Galion beach. Then from March and until mid-April, the Carbets will no longer be accessible from the Hauts de la Baie Orientale, access will only be via the Bas de la Baie Orientale.

The total amount of this work is 1.2 M €, it will take place from February 22, 2021 to the end of April 2021.
