NAVIGATION: Reopening of the Simpson Bay Bridge subject to the evolution of Tropical Storm Fiona

0

In a press release, The Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority (SLAC), responsible for the management of the Simpson Bay lagoon on the Dutch side, including the operation and maintenance of the bridges, informs maritime traffic and stakeholders that the bridge and causeway of Simpson Bay are operating according to their scheduled daily openings.

SLAC is also closely monitoring the approach of the weather system known as Tropical Depression No. 7 whose winds have strengthened over the past 36 hours becoming Tropical Storm FIONA. As of Wednesday, September 14 at 23 p.m., the tropical depression was located about 1000 km east of the Lesser Antilles and was moving west-northwest at about 25 km/h. According to the forecasts established to date, it should generally maintain this trajectory until today. However, in view of its evolution which could be changing, the Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority reserves the right to adapt its schedule for the opening of the Simpson Bay bridge according to the approach of the weather system. All stakeholders will be informed accordingly. _VX
