The Forbin family is no longer to be presented in the nautical world. The first nautical-focused training center initiated by Elina Duval-Forbin and Mathieu Forbin is located in Marie-Galante. This is their second, this time at Sandy Ground.
The project for a second center in Saint-Martin was born out of a call for tenders within the framework of the AFC (Action de Formation Conventitée) of 2019, public market of Pôle Emploi Îles du Nord which entrusted this crazy bet to the Forbin couple. Elina Duval-Forbin: “Setting up at a distance without being locals was not easy, it was certainly important for us to establish ourselves at the heart of economic activity but also at the heart of the target audience: youth by Sandy Ground. »Olivier Pelvoisin Regional Director of the Employment Department, Senator Annick Petrus, Member of Parliament Claire Javois and Sofia Carti Codrington 3rd vice-president in charge of social education and vocational training, all were unanimous during their speech : Saint-Martin's economy has everything to gain from diversifying, and the blue economy is a booming sector. Format therefore offers 4 training courses open to all (including those wishing to re-integrate professionally, infra-bac type): mechanic repairer in recreational marine and maintenance agent in recreational marine ( for a period of a little less than a year), marina agent (between 4 and 6 months) and a training course to discover nautical professions (between 2 and 3 months), with internships immersion in a company for the first three courses. Each of them is fully funded by Pôle Emploi. On the site of the Format center, 4 air-conditioned classrooms (12 students max per class), 2 technical platforms, a sanitary block and a storage container. During his inauguration speech, Mathieu Forbin did not fail to salute the investment of the young people of Sandy Ground for their interest and their invaluable help. The emotion in his voice was as perceptible as the pride in his eyes on the young people present in the assembly, young people eager to learn.
