Swimming: The Carib Swim Team club stands out in Florida!

0

The group of French swimmers joined the team of the Dutch side to participate last week in one of the biggest competitions of Florida in Coral Springs.

This group was represented by Sacha Gibbs, Benjamin Pocovini, Vadim Malisev, Matias Piazza, Nicolas Piazza and Joey Schvartz-Arnaud.

For most swimmers it was the first time that they participated in a competition in the USA where about twenty clubs of a very high level gathered.

Young swimmers Joey Schvartz-Arnaud and Nicolas Piazza in the 9-10 years category made remarkable performances by finishing in the top 10 of each of their races. Joey won the gold medal in the 200m backstroke and Nicolas the bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Finally, Sacha Gibbs (14 years old) managed to obtain his qualifying time for the CARIFTA Games (Caribbean Games, 12 years and over) which will be held in April in Barbados. He joined Matias Piazza who had already qualified in his category.

The other swimmers over 12 have until March 8 to qualify. The club is organizing a competition on March 7-8 at the Carib Swim Team pool (Cole Bay) so that the swimmers still have a chance to qualify.

It is the first time that so many swimmers have come together for a competition outside the territory. This demonstrates the growing interest in the discipline as well as the will of the club to establish a competitive training program within the Caribbean and on the international scene.

Congratulations to all of the educators and swimmers! _AF
