During the night of March 25 to 26, the patrol boat West Indies-Guyana “The Fighter” intercepted a fishing vessel in territorial waters, south of Martinique. During the check, bales of cannabis, floating around the boat, were discovered. And that's not all…

During a maritime surveillance patrol in the south of Martinique, "La Combattante" detected a skiff suspected, given its kinematics, of engaging in illicit drug trafficking. A police check at sea, carried out under the authority of the prefect of Martinique, made it possible to discover bales of cannabis floating near the boat, as well as firearm ammunition!

By decision of the Public Prosecutor of Fort-de-France, the crew members, of Saint Lucian nationality, the eight kilos of cannabis recovered, the ammunition as well as the boat were handed over to the Caribbean branch of the Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST), in Fort-de-France.

Presented in immediate appearances, the individuals were sentenced to two years' imprisonment with continued detention. _AF
