The Overseas Support and Assistance Building (BSAOM) Dumont D'Urville, of the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA), supported by the maritime patrol aircraft of the Customs Coastguard Service, intercepted off the Martinique a sailboat flying the Spanish flag with its board 1328 kg of cocaine. A record for the year 2022.

On Saturday September 10, the crew of the Dumont D'Urville intercepted a suspicious sailboat off Martinique. On board, sailors discovered 47 bundles that tested positive for the cocaine reaction test.

The three crew members, the cargo and the sailboat, flying the Spanish flag, were brought back to Fort-de-France by the overseas support and assistance building of the Armed Forces in the West Indies.

"This operation is the result of close inter-ministerial cooperation", specify the FAA. "It notably mobilized several intelligence organizations (armed forces, customs, anti-narcotics office -OFAST-) as well as the Fort-de-France public prosecutor's office, in close cooperation with the Spanish judicial authorities".

This 7th seizure of the year 2022 brings the provisional balance sheet of the Armed Forces in the West Indies to more than one tonne of cannabis intercepted and 2,4 tonnes of cocaine seized since the beginning of the year. _AF
