The local mission of Saint-Martin welcomes young people aged 18 to 26 in the integration of people with disabilities up to the age of 29 as part of their procedures (employment, training, housing, health, finances). Since its opening in May 2022, 264 young people have registered, around 4 of them have been trained and XNUMX have found a job, says Maggy Gumbs, director of the local mission.

Difficulties arose during startup. On the one hand at the level of the installation of the software consisting in seizing the devices for the insertion and the accompaniment of the young people.

“This was released two days ago and will allow us to register young people using the software, we are waiting for the access codes” declares the director.

On the other hand, the service offer was not yet in place. It is in the process of being so and should make it possible to “find all the associations which work for the youth of the territory, to see what they offer in order to work with them”, explains Maggy Gumbs. And to add: “the administration needs time but we are moving forward and have projects”. In particular, a device to support young people who have dropped out of school.

“My roadmap will be during the month of September to train my team on the software, to put all the tools in place. We will also soon go to the neighborhoods to meet young people who do not travel, it will be at the beginning of October, ”says Maggy Gumbs. (soualigapost.com)
