Establishment of a territorial committee to fight against Sargassum

0

The new government plan to combat Sargassum provides for “close collaboration between the prefect and the communities within the framework of a territorial committee”. These committees must allow "a formal dialogue between the actors, a follow-up of the action plans and constitute real decision-making bodies", specifies the State. In Saint-Martin, this territorial committee was created this Monday, September 5 by the prefect Vincent Berton.

This committee includes a select committee and an extended committee. The first is made up of representatives of the prefecture and the Collectivity. It is “an operational body for the preparation of decisions, validation, implementation and monitoring of action plans, in particular financial. It is chaired by the prefect and the president of the COM.”

The enlarged committee includes the members of the select committee as well as representatives of structures involved in coastal development, the representative of the waste management structure, representatives of users  as well as state operators and councils.

This enlarged committee is “a space for information and formal dialogue between the players”. It should make it possible to “propose the orientations of communication actions and their coordination”. (soualigapost.com)
