MICRO-TROTTOIR / Retrospective 2022: what are your highlights of the year?

0

“This year 2022 will have been rich in emotions and twists and turns! I think it is above all the year that will have marked the end of the health crisis. Even if the covid is still circulating and we must bet on caution, we are starting to find the rhythm of before, it is still a little unstable but I believe that this new tourist season will really be one of change and recovery. I sincerely hope so. I work in the luxury hotel industry and I am slowly rediscovering the atmosphere before the health crisis which cost us a lot in economic and psychological terms. For a few weeks we have been on the upward slope again, pray that 2023 will bring us back to the top! » Lenn

“Without hesitation, the elections. I don't know if I can broach the subject of politics but it was a big change for many, I closely followed the campaign for the election to the presidency of the Collectivity and even if I prefer not to reveal my vote, for the moment I am satisfied with the new governance. Many things have been done previously despite difficult conditions with the passage of Irma and the coronavirus crisis, it must be admitted, even if we can always blame things, we must also learn to recognize progress. Since the election of Louis Mussington, things have continued to fall into place for the population of Saint-Martin and the recognition of the territory. Hope it lasts… "   Gaspard

“I don't live in Saint-Martin all year round, but having a residence here that I occupy regularly and over long periods of time allows me to see the changes made in more detail. I lived the passages of the hurricanes and I must tell you that the removal of the wrecks in the waters of Saint-Martin was lived a real rebirth. First of all from an ecological point of view but above all by this political will to look towards the future without having the stigmata of the past.

It was a big market to organize and I'm delighted that the Collectivity decided to take it to the end. The island of Saint-Martin needed to restore its image with international tourists but especially with its population. There is still so much to do but it is on the right track. »  Anouck

“The year 2022 will have been very eventful for me, but also full of solidarity. Between the blockages, the crisis, the elections and the rest, I was afraid that the population would divide even more but in the end, I saw people gather around the same cause, that of Saint-Martin. The recognition of the Unity Flag, for example, moved me a lot. I may be naive, but I feel like the tensions have eased and we really needed it after everything we've been through. 2022 was a bit like the year of the last chance… Above all, I hope that politicians will continue to listen to the inhabitants to improve safety, living together and the future of our children. » Jeremy
