MICRO-TROTTOIR: “Why did you choose to settle in Saint Martin? "

0

“My parents came to Saint-Martin more than 15 years ago on vacation, they had friends who lived in Grand-Case. I was little but I remember it very well, I was like crazy because we went to the beach every day. I even told them that I didn't want to go back to France, they felt that like me. And magic of life, a few days before the end of our stay, my father received a job offer in the construction sector and the offer was too interesting to refuse, it was the last argument to convince us . We returned to France to prepare our business and our return. I may not have been born here, but I feel at home in Saint Martin. " Samuel

“I am from Haiti. I had to flee my land and it was heartbreaking for me, but I found an adopted island in Saint Martin. I feel deeply Saint-Martin even if I do not say it too much, out of respect for the locals. I sometimes miss Haiti, it makes me nostalgic to think about it but it's like a past story, it's behind me. It's still sensitive, especially with what happened recently, but I belong to Saint Martin now. This land is rich and the people I met when I arrived here have become my family. I had nothing when I came and was helped. I try every day to reciprocate in my own way by helping whoever I can with my means, that's how I thank God for guiding me this far. " Danny

“I think my story will be sorely lacking in originality because I have met so many people who have had the same experience as me! I came to Saint Martin for an internship in a law firm and I fell in love with the island. I have always traveled a lot because my mother is a diplomat but I had an immediate attachment to Saint Martin, like love at first sight. Not just for the climate and the postcard landscapes, it's the mix of cultures, people, the comings and goings of tourists, there is both a form of recklessness and resilience on this island. Holland will still have to wait because I do not intend to return there anytime soon! "  Senna
