Michel Vogel, new president of the Labor Court

0

The industrial tribunal settles disputes between employees and employers. It is made up of lay judges appointed by union and employer organizations.

Saint-Martin depends on the council located in Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. Michel Vogel, president of Fipcom-Medef of Saint-Martin is the new president. He took office at the general meeting on January 19. He succeeds Claude Morvan. The exchange of medals took place during the solemn hearing which was held a few days later in Basse-Terre.

Michel Vogel invited the advisers to give priority to “conciliation” when dealing with cases. He also wished to see the time taken to hear cases decrease.

In addition, he took the opportunity to recall the difficulties faced by advisers from the North Islands to sit on the council, in particular the problem of compensation. As a reminder, advisers must arrive the day before the hearings in Guadeloupe, which requires them to stay overnight in a hotel. If the costs of plane, car rental and accommodation must be reimbursed, they are reimbursed late and not in full. These problems have been raised for years.
