“Saint-Martinoises, Saint-Martinois, at home, Christmas is a moment of reunion, a period of truce which allows us to refocus on the essentials.
It is not time for assessment or conquest, these moments will come later. It is a privileged moment of sharing and good times spent with family and loved ones.
Let's take advantage of these moments shared with those we love. By coming in large numbers to the “Christmas Experience” evening which launched the Christmas festivities on the Marigot seafront on November 27, you showed your attachment to Christmas traditions. It touched me a lot. Neighborhood councils are also part of these festivities by organizing events in continuity with the “Christmas Experience”. I know I can count on them to maintain the Christmas spirit and bring our beautiful traditions to life.
I thank them for their involvement throughout the year. I also salute the associations which work tirelessly and which are a precious support for the community.
We have many visitors on the island at the moment, let them discover our culture and our traditions of hospitality.
I have a thought for all those who will be away from the family home during these holidays.
I think of our young students, our elders, the people who are going through a difficult time.
