Start of event: in progress
End of event: Monday 23/10/2023 during the day.
Current Situation
At 5 a.m. this morning, Category 1 Hurricane TAMMY was located at 21.4N 64.0W, 370 km north-northwest of Anguilla and was continuing its path north at 17 km/h, with sustained winds. 130 km/h.
Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy are under the influence of spiral bands which progress and rise in the wake of TAMMY.
Expected development
Heavy rain and thunderstorms
The stormy rains of the night will continue for the next few hours. The improvement is evident during or at the end of the morning, with drier weather, without excluding residual showers.
Showers can be sustained, but above all lasting. They could therefore still generate accumulations of around 50 mm on the islands in a short time, bringing accumulations of between 100 to 130 mm or even a little more over the entire episode (night from Sunday to Monday and Monday morning).
Locally, significant intensities could generate rapid flooding.
Vents
The wind has oriented south to southeast, it is weakening, to now be moderate or even quite strong, 30 km/h on average. Despite everything, it remains a little turbulent and squalls are still possible at times, particularly in showers. These can still temporarily reach 70 to 90 km/h.
Wen
The sea continues to calm down, currently giving rise to slightly rough seas in the Atlantic due to a southeasterly swell, not very energetic, with lows of less than 1 m from the morning.
The wind still raises a southerly wind sea.
Unusual unrest on exposed coasts located on lower parts of the coastline is possible.
Figures
Over the last 3 hours,
- thunderstorms
– 45 mm recorded in Saint-Martin Grand-Case
– 35 mm recorded in Saint-Martin Marigot
– gusts temporarily between 70 to 90 km/h were noted in Saint-Barthélemy.
– the sea continues to dampen: the average wave height is 1m40, maximum height 2m30
