Attempts to scam on the subject of regularization to the general data protection regulation (GDPR) have been reported in recent weeks on the islands of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.
They take the form of canvassing by telephone, mail or email to encourage them to comply with the GDPR by calling a surcharged telephone number or by subscribing to a paid service.
These letters do not originate from any legitimate service. These practices may constitute crimes punishable by law, in particular by the use of official or similar logos, for fraudulent purposes.
The prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin calls for vigilance on the part of recipients regarding this type of canvassing.
