Professional college in the Northern Islands: 25% of teachers on strike

0

About 25% of the teaching staff of the vocational college of the Northern Islands is on strike since yesterday morning to protest against the deterioration of the conditions of education.

They deplore the lack of resources in many classes and the elimination of 35 posts planned for the Academy of Guadeloupe. Nearly 300 students were deprived of lessons yesterday at the high school, following the strike movement launched by the Intersyndicale (SPEG, SNETAA-FO). For Dominique Louisy and Gérard Colomies, representatives of the two trade union organizations, none of the demands have been heard since the Christmas holidays; so they decided to take action. Here are their demands:

- Insufficient number of school life staff;

- Communication to be reviewed between the school management and the staff;

- Better support for the specificity of students;

- Refusal of the abolition of 35 posts for the Academy of Guadeloupe;

- Defective computer equipment (software not updated, computers not usable, internet access problems);

- Difficult working conditions (no air conditioner or fan).

Without consideration of their claims by the establishment's management, the striking staff are ready to continue the movement. Case to follow… _AF
