LITERATURE: The Book Fair blows out its 20 candles

From June 2 to 4, word lovers and book lovers will celebrate the twentieth edition of this book fair, better known as the St. Martin Book Fair. The program did not suffer from the white page syndrome.

The Saint Martin Book Fair was founded by Lasana M. Sekou, Project Manager of House of Nehesi Publishers and Shujah Alex Reiph, President of Conscious Lyrics Foundation. Organized by the Conscious Lyrics Foundation, in collaboration with Computech, the University of Saint Martin (USM), St. Maarten Department of Culture (MECYS), the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, SOS Radio 95.9 and in consultation with the House of Nehesi Publishers, the first edition was held in 2003 and since then, the organizing team has continued to offer the inhabitants of Saint Martin books, works, free literary recitals, multilingual workshops, cultural performances and exhibitions of educational and multimedia tools. The participants are accompanied by authors and experts from Saint Martin and from around the world. These guest writers will lead masterclasses and workshops, visit schools, participate in round tables, present their new books, sign autographs, meet the public, exchange with other writers and recite for this Friday's international literary evening. . Among the 35 invited authors, let us mention among others Habiba Cooper Diallo (Canada), Geoff Goodfellow (Australia), Caleb Dros (St. Martin), Mara Pastor (Puerto Rico), Michael McMillan (United Kingdom), Nicole Cage (Martinique) , Burnett Coburn (Jamaicae/USA ), Heddrick McBride (USA), Yvonne Weekes (Barbados), Faizah Tabasamu (St. Martin), St. Clair Detrick-Jules (St. Barths/USA), Max Rippon (Guadeloupe), Sharma Taylor (Jamaica) , Max Rippon (Guadeloupe), and Saida Agostini (Guyana). The keynote speaker will be David Comissiong, Ambassador of Barbados to CARICOM. The theme for this year 2022 is rebirth (The Rebirth). The Book Fair will officially kick off this Thursday, June 2 with the opening ceremony at 20 p.m. in the garden of the Philipsburg Government Administration Building. Friday morning will be devoted to masterclasses and the youth forum at the University of Saint Martin (USM). At the end of the day, place at the International Literary Evening under the starry sky of the Boulevard de Grand-Case with readings and recitations by published authors. The apotheosis of the 2022 Book Fair will take place from 8:30 a.m. on Saturday June 4 at the University of Saint Martin and the closing ceremony of this anniversary edition and the launch of several books will be held in the evening under the literary tent of the port of Galisbay, in Marigot. Three intense days to celebrate the greatness of literature. _VX
