After a meeting in the prefecture on Wednesday March 7, the elected members of the works council (CE) representing La Samanna employees were received last Thursday by the hotel management. They oppose the job protection plan launched on January 19; plan which according to them, would threaten 138 contracts with unlimited duration (CDI).
On January 31, a part of the employees and the members of the works council demonstrated in the street and went to the community. On February 26, employee representatives had a meeting with their management, during which they offered to negotiate voluntary departures rather than dismissals. The next day, they were again received at the Collective. "President [Daniel Gibbs] told us that he had gone to London in early February to meet with the management of the Belmond group following his trip to Paris to meet the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron," reports Franki Lainez, secretary of the works council. Daniel Gibbs had confirmation by the management of the reopening of the hotel in early December 2018.
