Legislative: Daniel Gibbs filed an appeal

0

The result of an election may be contested before the Constitutional Council by any person within ten days of its proclamation. This year, 91 appeals were filed in France following the legislative elections, including one in our constituency. It was by Daniel Gibbs. This is the 64th recorded.

The Constitutional Council examines "very quickly [their] admissibility, so as to rule out in the coming weeks those who would be manifestly inadmissible". So far, no decision has been made.

The other appeals will be judged as soon as possible, after an adversarial procedure which may take into consideration the future decisions of the National Commission for Campaign Accounts and Political Funding concerning the campaign accounts of elected officials.

In 2017, no appeal was filed following the election of Claire Guion-Firmin. In 2012, Arnaud Benet filed one to challenge the election of Daniel Gibbs. But having done so out of time, the Constitutional Council quickly rejected it.
