Yacht Hop is now anchored in Sint Maarten

The Yacht Hop ship which ran aground at the beginning of March in Nettle Bay and which was released on May 29 and brought to the Fort Louis marina, is now in the waters of Sint Maarten where it must be repaired. He was pulled by a tug on Saturday morning to Simpson bay.

Several maritime offenses had been identified by the French authorities. The main one being that of using a degraded ship with inappropriate mooring and a lack of wakefulness, which led to the grounding of the boat and to discharges of fuel into territorial waters, which constitutes a second offense.

The minutes of maritime offenses drawn up in Saint-Martin were sent to the court in Cayenne, Guyana, which is competent in the area. (Archive photo. More details on www.soualigapost.com)
