The inhabitants of the ABACOS and GRAND BAHAMA islands have just suffered the destructive effects of Hurricane DORIAN, the most powerful cyclonic phenomenon ever recorded in the Bahamas archipelago.

“I extend my full support to the people and authorities of the Bahamas who are going through very difficult times. The elected officials of the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin join me in extending our sincere condolences to the families who have lost a loved one, as well as to Prime Minister Hubert MINNIS and his government.

Two years ago today, Saint Martin was undergoing the same destructive experience with the passage of Hurricane IRMA and we know how difficult it is to rebuild after such a disaster. The days following the passage of a major hurricane are particularly trying. All our thoughts go out to the islanders who suffered the lightnings of Dorian and who are currently in a state of emergency. The time for reconstruction will come next, it is a complex test, which requires patience and abnegation, I know that the inhabitants of the Bahamas Islands will be able to find the resources necessary to get up and rebuild their archipelago more beautiful and stronger still!

On behalf of the people of Saint Martin, I wish the people of the Bahamas the strength and courage necessary to overcome this terrible ordeal.

Our solidarity with the Bahamas is total, Saint Martin will help when the time comes through official channels, to help the stricken residents.

Saint-Martinois are with all their hearts with their brothers and sisters from the Bahamas Islands. "
