A dream come true! On a 450 KTM, Christophe Noyerie will compete from next to the 21th, the Merzouga Rally. A difficult but oh so exciting event, the winners in each category having the assurance of being able to register for the Dakar 27!
For the 2016 season, the Dakar Series circuit will take motorcycles, quads and SSV pilots to the Rallye de Merzouga, the 7th edition of which will be held from May 21 to 27. Ideal crossing point in preparation for the Dakar for European competitors in particular, the meeting will above all become a detection and training laboratory for rally raids, intended to bring out the “new Dakar generation”.
“Since the beginning of the year, I have been following a very intense physical program,” underlines Christophe Noyerie. “Between cardio training, jogging and weight training, I have something to occupy myself with! It is important to be in good shape on D-Day. The rally-raid is a very endurance competition for the body.
I sincerely hope to achieve a great performance. For this, I hired the services of an experienced mechanic on rally-raids, in the person of Mickaël Doudeau. The two of us should do a good job! "
Having become over the years a major test in terms of the Dakar, the Rallye de Merzouga will take on a new dimension in 2016 with a change of date which places it in the front line. Team redesigns, technological changes made to motorcycles or new equipment can thus be applied on Moroccan soil. The prize list of the event displays only the names of major players in the Dakar. In the future, the Rallye de Merzouga is set to become both a field of revenge and a taste of the confrontations that take place in January. Especially since the Dakar Challenge will reward both the winner of the event and his most promising talent.
Driven by the same innovative spirit, Marc Coma will officiate as sports director, with an even broader vision, focused on the transmission of his know-how. Winner of the Dakar on both continents, he will lead workshops to provide pilots with the necessary background to get started and why not shine on the Dakar.
