Le Manteau wants to offer boarding houses

Provide a safe environment. To help rebuild or create new social ties, this is the goal of the boarding houses that ALEFPA Le Manteau* wants to open in Saint-Martin. This is a new activity for the association whose vocation is to help people in precarious situations who face significant social, administrative or economic difficulties.

A boarding house is a small structure that welcomes and supports people in a situation of exclusion, isolation or disability. “The objective is to create social residences at a lower cost,” says Audrey Gil, the director of the association.

The program began in Quartier d'Orléans in September 2021 and continued this year in Friar's Bay in April. Twenty places are already available and offer accommodation for men, single women or couples.

The Alefpa Le Manteau will also implement the renovation of the premises of the accommodation and social reintegration center in Marigot. This will open the center to men; today their access is restricted because it is reserved for women in great difficulty.

The Collectivity has indicated that it will participate in the operation.

*ALEFPA: Secular Association for Education, Training, Prevention and Autonomy. In January 2021, the two structures merged.
