Since August 1, squadron chief Sébastien Manzoni has taken the helm of the gendarmerie company of the North Islands with Captain Régis Turlan-Arto, assigned as assistant to the commander. We went to meet him.

Sébastien Manzoni does not arrive in unknown territory within the gendarmerie company of the Northern Islands. Indeed, from 2007 to 2011, the latter occupied the post of assistant then commander of the Group of Intervention Platoons (GPI) based in Abymes, in Guadeloupe. “My duties had led me to carry out several missions in Saint-Martin. I arrive today on this island with some references already, ”he says.

Before landing in Saint-Martin, Sébastien Manzoni led the Peloton d'Intervention Interrégional de la Gendarmerie from 2011 to 2015 in Orange (Vaucluse). Married and father of two children, the commander now has an objective that is particularly close to his heart: "Do everything possible to guarantee the population a more secure climate." The fight against armed robbery remains one of our major objectives. For this, it is important to give more time to the gendarmes to investigate.

A search for balance with our various partners (Community, State services) is essential to carry out our common missions; my idea is to continue working in the dynamic that has already been launched, while bringing my experience. In the field, my role will be to support my soldiers in their work. All while promoting contact and listening to the population ”. For this, Sébastien Manzoni will be supported by Captain Régis Turlan-Arto, a native of Moselle, who first occupied the post of investigator in Seine-et-Marne and Corsica before being appointed commander of the Community of Brigades of Pont-Audemer (Eure), between 2011 and 2015.

Captain Emmanuel Maignan completes the triumvirate of the new command. He took over from Captain Jouault, as second-in-command.

14 reinforcements

During his visit to Saint-Martin, the President of the Republic François Hollande had promised reinforcements from the gendarmes. He kept his word: 14 mobile gendarmes from the Gap (Hautes-Alpes) marching platoon came to reinforce the troops since August 1 last. “All of them are based in the Nettle Bay sector, and regularly conduct pedestrian patrols on Sandy Ground. We received a favorable response from the population, all generations combined. Our presence on the ground reassures everyone, ”said the commander. _AF
