Yesterday, as part of the Fête de la Science, the teachers of the Mont des Accords college allowed the middle school students to carry out scientific demonstrations, in front of the press. The opportunity to arouse their interest in the sciences.

Several scientific themes, taught in the school, were discussed through interactive workshops, exchanges and technical demonstrations. The pupils thus showed that the sciences did not scare them. Among the seven workshops in the program, “The Arduino Universe” made them aware of the energy chain, sensors and actuators. The college students also learned to identify clues at a crime scene with Mr. Titha. As for the “Science and Art” workshop directed by Madame Bordin and Madame Luce, the processing of sounds and images in 3 D were in the spotlight. The college students also had the opportunity to carry out research on the formation of Sargassum in Saint-Martin and on the origin of sea currents. The causes of global warming and its consequences were also discussed with the children of several primary schools in Concordia.

The Fête de la Science also in high school

This event, under the theme of light, will be organized at the Lycée des Iles du Nord tomorrow from 8 am to 12 noon, for the fourth consecutive year. Four workshops will be offered during the morning including “Light on black scientists and inventors, duty to remember” presented by Alex Reiph from the “Conscious Lyrics Foundation” association, and another in the form of a game inspired by “Trivial Pursuit ”which will allow a playful approach to the light sciences. The pupils, who have been preparing their work since the beginning of the year, are expecting the visit of many young people. _K.L and EH
