President Daniel Gibbs signed, on Tuesday, September 28, with the director of the Conservatoire du Littoral, Agnès Vince, the Agreement for the management of the land and maritime domain of the coastal conservatory on the territory of Saint-Martin, confirming the management by the Community of Saint-Martin of certain sites of the Conservatoire du Littoral.

A first agreement was initiated in December 2019 when the Conservatoire du Littoral entrusted the management of the Galion land to the Collectivity. This agreement has borne fruit since joint work is currently being carried out at Galion in favor of a natural development of this public coastal zone.

The agreement signed this Tuesday, September 28 mainly concerns the ponds of Saint-Martin. Thus, the community becomes manager of the following sites: Pointe du Bluff, Grand Ilet, Babit Point, Pointe Molly Smith, Grand Etang, Etang Rouge, Etang de Grand-Case, Etang de l'Airport, Etang de la Barrière and Etang de Chevrise .

A distribution of the missions is therefore put in place through this agreement: the community officially becomes the manager of the coastal conservatory sites designated in the agreement, and the latter retains its missions as owner of the sites.

The agreement is signed for a period of 6 years renewable once.

As President Gibbs and Director Agnès Vince have underlined, the signing of this agreement marks a strong collaboration between the Conservatoire du Littoral and the Collectivity of Saint-Martin in the service of natural sites and their conservation. Joint projects will be carried out to preserve this natural heritage.
