JUSTICE: 70 hours of TIG for rebellion and driving without a license

On Valentine's Day, JS goes to find his wife who works in the Dutch part. On the way back they stop "have a drink in Quartier d'Orléans" then leave. Behind them drives a car of gendarmes who go to Grand-Case where they were called for an intervention.

The gendarmes noticed that the couple's car was deviating from the left lane, prompting them to park in the parking lot near a service station. They check the vehicle and its driver. It turns out that he does not hold a driving license and has been drinking. In order to estimate the blood alcohol level, the soldiers asked JS to come with them to the barracks.

JS refuses to leave his wife and children alone on the side of the road, the situation worsens and the gendarmes use their taser three times.

In the end, JS will still be taken to the gendarmerie. Several blood alcohol tests are carried out, the lowest rate will be retained, i.e. 0,32 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, the authorized threshold being 0,25.

JS was summoned last Thursday to the Saint-Martin local court not for driving under the influence of alcohol (his rate was contraventional and not delictual) but for rebellion and driving without a license. JS was reoffending; his locker carries two convictions for driving without a license.

After deliberation, the court followed the requisitions of the prosecution and ordered 70 hours of community service to be carried out within eighteen months as well as two fines of 100 euros each. In addition, the court asked JS to take a road safety awareness course. (soualigapost.com)
