Children's Rights Days: several actions carried out in Saint-Martin

As part of the International Day of the Rights of the Child, celebrated on November 20, 2022, activities around the theme will be organized in Saint-Martin, in order to raise awareness among young people about "the rights and duties of the child". , from Monday November 21 to Wednesday November 23, 2022.

The Solidarity and Family Delegation, the Territorial Observatory of Early Childhood, the Department of Education, the youth section of the territorial media library, the schools of the French part and the Dutch part as well as Anguilla, will collaborate to implement this program.

The implementation of the project will take place over three days:

– On Monday, November 21, the 3rd edition of the “Children's Rights” Debate will take place at the CCISM. Five students from each school are invited to discuss an article on children's rights under the watchful eye of a moderator.

Four secondary schools participate, including:

• Two schools on the French side: Mont des Accords College and Roche Gravée de Moho College

• An establishment on the Dutch side: The Methodist Agogic Center (MAC)

• A school in Anguilla: Albina LAKE-HODGE Comprehensive school

Then, on Tuesday, November 22, students from the Émile Choisy and Hervé Williams school will create a mural fresco at Concordia, in collaboration with the painters of the Tournesol association.

The day of Wednesday, November 23 will begin at 9 a.m. with the signing of the application for membership of the network, "VILLE AMIE DES ENFANTS" which consists of implementing children's rights at the local level and raising awareness of solidarity. international.

Then, a live broadcast on SOS Radio will be hosted under the theme: “a child has rights but also duties”.

To close the program, the show "Nourish me & Watch me grow", will be presented by children from extracurricular in the afternoon. Through all of these actions, the children will meet and discuss the existence of the rights that protect them and the essential duties in their environment.

The Collectivity and its partners want this system to inform children as well as possible about their rights and duties in their daily lives.
