All public schools in Saint Martin will be equipped with Ideas Cube in the coming days. It is a digital library developed by the association Libraries without Borders (BSF) with which the rectorate has signed an agreement.
The concept is simple: thematic, educational and fun content is installed in a box and can be accessed on tablets or other screens, via wifi without using the Internet. Students can view them for themselves if they have a tablet, or teachers can present them using a video projector or TV.
"It is an innovative and living tool", comments the prefect behind this project, which represents a cost of 700 euros, 000% of which is provided by the Fondation de France. “This includes the Ideas Cube as well as the setting up of two mobile media libraries which will be inaugurated at the beginning of October,” explains Sylvie Feucher.
The Libraries Without Borders teams worked for several months with those of the National Education in Saint-Martin to choose content adapted to the needs in French, English and Spanish.
Independent experts will finally come to Saint-Martin to assess the system. "We will be attentive to the results and depending on them, we can install this type of tool in other schools of the Academy, in particular in Marie-Galante or in La Désirade", commented the rector Mostafa Fourar.
