Following the difficulties of inheritance joint ownership in the territory of Saint-Martin and the request expressed to the Keeper of the Seals last February, a mission relating to the land situation in the community of Saint-Martin was decided in April by the Minister of the Overseas Territories, the Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice and the Minister Delegate in charge of Public Accounts.

This mission arrived last Friday in Saint-Martin and will remain until July 6. It is made up of an Inspector General for Administration and an Inspector General for Justice. It must take an interest in all the land issues encountered in the territory.

In particular, its members must analyze the difficulties relating to the occupation of the 50 geometrical steps, the cadastral questions as well as the problem of inheritance joint ownership. They will meet the local actors in order to take stock of the situation and make recommendations in the face of the current difficulties that are hampering the development of the territory.
