For reasons still unknown, a large fire broke out last Friday around 19 p.m. at the Grandes Cayes waste disposal centre.
"An area of approximately 14 m000 was in flames", emphasizes Cyrille Pallud, Head of the Fire and Rescue Center of Saint-Martin. “We have made every effort to control the scene and secure the area with the help of the site operator”.
A total of eight firefighters accompanied by an officer and two fire trucks were mobilized for more than four hours to put out the flames.
