"He wanted to protect his parrots"

Two men appeared this Thursday, April 6, 2017 before the criminal court of Saint-Martin for detention without authorization of psittacidaes (parrots) between November 2014 and June 2015. In November 2014 the National Office of Water and Aquatic Environments (Onema) is informed by denunciation that several parrots would be detained without authorization at MR, horticulturalist. When they go to the scene, the officers note from the road the presence of cages and parrots before returning to interrogate MR two days later. The latter then designates MF as being the owner of part of the birds he owns (eight), imported for two years from Sint Maarten. MR states that he thought that the acquisition documents issued on the Dutch side were sufficient. The president of the court will declare the offense established but will exempt them from punishment. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
