On the 140-hectare site in Kourou, the earthworks for the new Ariane 6 launch pad have just started, according to the Guyane 1ère chain. The earthworks must be completed before the arrival of the rainy season. The first tests, preparatory to the inaugural flight, are scheduled for 2020. Last August, the European Space Agency signed the first Ariane 6 development contracts with the National Center for Space Studies (Cnes) and Airbus Safran Launchers.
