For the week of July 12 to 18, 2021, the number of new positive cases identified in Guadeloupe is 281, against 178, the previous week, indicate the Prefecture and the Regional Health Agency. The Prefecture even speaks of 4th  vague and therefore foresees new measures.

An increase in the number of cases which has not, for the time being, an influence on the hospital pressure which remains stable, specifies the ARS. As of Sunday, July 18, 12 people were hospitalized in COVID intensive care at the CHU, 3 were in intensive care unit, 44 patients were in medical services and 36 others in follow-up care and rehabilitation (SSR).

However, two new deaths are to be deplored. Two men, with an average age of 73, hospitalized in medicine at the CHU.

The Prefecture and the ARS insist on the need to be vaccinated, in the press release. Indicating that on Tuesday, July 20, the vaccination coverage rate (at least one injection) of people over 18 was 25,78% in Guadeloupe. In Saint-Martin, it is 35,03%. In Saint-Barthélemy, it is higher: 64,77%.

For his part, the regional prefect, Alexandre Rochatte speaks of 4th  wave. As a result, more restrictive measures were decided upon. Thus, an obligation to wear a mask outdoors in the built-up areas of Guadeloupe, between 8 a.m. and 23 p.m. in the evening, has been reinstated.

Beaches, rivers and other natural spaces are exempt from wearing a mask, specifies the prefecture.

Another decision announced, the extension of the application of the health pass to sports and cultural establishments and gatherings. Since yesterday July 21, to access all places of leisure and culture of more than 50 people, you must present a health pass or a recent test for people over 18 years old.
