Last Monday, a 23-year-old detainee, of Dominican origin and domiciled before his imprisonment in Saint-Martin, died following an assault with a stabbing weapon. The emergency services arrived on the spot noted an injury in the back and the cheek probably at the origin of his death.
Facts took place in a differentiated detention area which accommodates difficult detainees.
It was when going to the shower that the tragedy occurred. According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim a received a handcrafted spike in the back and cheek.
On his arrival, the SAMU could only note his death. The author of the fatal blow is a 26-year-old Haitian. According to the guards, no dispute existed between the two detainees.
This is not the first time that this differentiated district of the prison is the scene of violent scenes.
Note that the victim was serving a six-year prison sentence, after being involved in a case for aggravated violence. Indeed, she had participated in the robbery of a casino on the Dutch side, during which a security guard was killed.
His killer, meanwhile, was serving a lighter sentence of one and a half years for robbery with violence.
