The Prefect and the President of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin proposed yesterday morning to the demonstrators blocking the Hôtel de la Collectivité to receive them in order to find a remedy together. The demonstrators refused mediation, said the Prefecture in a statement.
On several occasions, the President of the Community, Daniel Gibbs, received a delegation of demonstrators. The latter presented him with a list of demands, the main of which concerned the situation of contractual agents whose fixed-term contracts cannot be renewed (16 agents from CTOS, 17 from the Collectivity). No agreement was found. The Prefecture and the Collectivity offered to receive a delegation of demonstrators in the prefecture yesterday Tuesday, February 5 at 8 a.m. in order to find a way out. Their proposal was not favorably received, as the protesters refused any mediation.
The Prefect and the President of the Collectivity renew their mediation proposal and remain at the disposal of the demonstrators to find a solution.
