More than 400 people participated on November 10 in the big cleaning contest "Get Up Clean Up Contest" organized by My Straw Company and Dauphin Telecom, with the support of the Prefecture and the Community. A real success!
From Terres Basses to Oyster Pond via Marigot, Cul-de-Sac, Quartier d'Orléans, all the districts were represented with the common objective of participating in a major clean-up of the island before the tourist period.
"Beyond this cleaning, we were also keen to raise awareness of the sorting of waste (yellow, green and brown garbage cans)," said the organizers.
“The result exceeded all our expectations with 1652 bags collected: 1000 kg of plastic, 2100 kg of glass, 1150 kg of metal, 3220 kg mixed garbage to which are added the heaps of bulky collected by skips of private volunteers on different places and on Pinel and Tintamarre.
This November 10 was memorable, we will not stop thanking you for your involvement!
