First travel website in the Caribbean, the Caribbean Journal has just published its list of the 50 best restaurants. Since 2013, date of creation of this classification of the best culinary destinations, the Caribbean Journal relies on three main axes to achieve its classification; the quality of the dishes, the service and the atmosphere. For the 2019 edition, six restaurants from the North Islands appear in this Best Off.

Four establishments are located in Saint-Martin and two in Saint-Barthélemy. On the sister island, the Quarter Kitchen & Cocktail Lab which, according to the Caribbean Journal, offers "an original and inventive menu, and an always experimental molecular gastronomy", is in 11th place, while L'Esprit, in Salines, directed by famous chef Jean-Claude Dufour is ranked 36th.

Regarding Saint-Martin, the Sol e Luna "combines wonderfully world-class cuisine, a romantic atmosphere and almost impeccable service" and is in 7th place. Grand-Case remains, despite the damage caused by Cyclone Irma, the Gastronomy Capital of the Caribbean by placing three restaurants in this Best Off. The Bistrot Caraïbes located on the boulevard is 14th, it stands out for its “extraordinary” seafood and “classic French cuisine with a Caribbean touch”. Auberge Gourmande is ranked 41st for its "classic French and classic West Indian" cuisine and "the incomparable atmosphere of Grand-Case". In 45th place is La Villa, "an institution" which serves "the best of Saint-Martin fusion cuisine", and noted for its queen conch ravioli or duck breast "prepared to perfection". Enjoy your meal… ! _RM
