Recently, the bishop in the armies, Monseigneur Luc Ravel, was in the Antilles for a pastoral visit of the Armed Forces. During his trip, Monsignor Ravel had the privilege of meeting two other renowned colleagues: Monsignor David Macaire - Archbishop of Saint-Pierre and Fort-de-France in Martinique and Monsignor Jean-Yves Riocreux - Bishop of Basse-Terre and from Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.

A field worker, Monsignor Ravel went, alongside Father Henry, Catholic military chaplain of the armed forces to the Antilles, to the naval base as well as aboard the surveillance frigate "Ventose" to interact with the sailors based in the West Indies. He also visited the adapted military service regiment of Martinique and discussed with young Martinicans in training. The next day, after a celebration of mass at the chapel of the Morne Desaix, the 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment in turn welcomed the bishop in the armies for a free discussion with the soldiers. The pastoral visit to the forces of Monseigneur Ravel ended with a meeting at the gendarmerie of Desaix.

During his trip, Monsignor Luc Ravel had lunch with two other colleagues based in the Antilles: Monsignor David Macaire - Archbishop of Saint-Pierre and Fort-de-France in Martinique and Monseigneur Jean-Yves Riocreux - Bishop of Basse Terre and Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe. This lunch, organized at the residence of the superior commander, in the presence of civil and military representatives of the various units of the armed forces in the Antilles, was intended to maintain links with the local Diocese and discuss the role of the army in the Caribbean environment. _AF
