After having shared the points against Aruba on the ground of Anguilla (0-0), the selection of Saint-Martin lost three days later against this same opponent in Curaçao (3-0).

Engaged in the qualifying rounds of the Nations League Concacaf zone, the selection of Saint-Martin delivered a good performance when it entered the competition against Aruba. Dominators in the game, Stéphane Auvray's men were unfortunately unable to force the opposing lock despite many clear chances. "Only the last gesture failed us", underlined the Saint-Martin coach at the end of the meeting, before adding, we showed good technical mastery between the lines. This is a good omen for the rest of the events”.

A logical defeat

Three days after an encouraging performance on a lawn hardly conducive to the practice of the beautiful game, the eleven Saint-Martinois found this same opponent in his stronghold. A new confrontation which this time turned to the advantage of the clearly dominating Aruban team during the initial forty-five minutes.

On three occasions, the local attack failed the visiting defense after goalkeeper Jordan Etienne stopped a penalty early in the game.

Despite a burst of pride in the second half and a few clear chances, the selection of Saint-Martin bowed after all logically against a realistic opponent (3-0).

Stéphane Auvray's proteges will be keen to confirm against St-Kitts on June 12 the good arrangements seen against Aruba. _AF
